Santander bank branch closures begin next month – is your local branch one of the 111 closures? | Personal Finances | Finance

The plans were announced in March this year, confirming that 111 branches would close by the end of August 2021. The bank said the move was in response to customers’ ongoing shift to mobile and online banking. .

The majority of the closed branches are within three miles of another branch in Santander, he said.

They added that the furthest distance between a branch that closes and another is five miles.

All are within a half mile of at least two free ATMs, and within a mile of the nearest post office, customers have been assured.

Following the changes, Santander will retain a network of 452 branches.

In addition, all current and business account holders in Santander can also use any of the 11,000 postal agencies nationwide.

Santander said he would run a “program of activities” to help customers affected by the closures find other ways to bank that best meet their needs.

This includes assistance in finding alternative branches and access to digital, telephone and postal banking services.

Additionally, Santander said it will proactively contact potentially vulnerable customers by phone to provide one-on-one assistance.

A dedicated phone number is also available to provide customers with help and information on closures (0800 085 0879).

Adam Bishop, Branch Manager, said: “Customer use of branches has declined significantly in recent years. We therefore made the difficult decision to consolidate our presence in areas where we have several branches relatively close to each other.

On the list of 111 closings, 10 branches are expected to close in June.
